The Girls Celebrate Easter at School

Olivia's school had a great week doing learning about "change". This word will be a large part of all they study the last quarter of the school year.  A perfect word for Easter.    Jesus changed our world on Easter didn't He.

Below the kids put together Easter baskets full of non perishable foods and faith based items for the homeless families in the area.  Changing their world with this act of kindness.

They also made a butterfly garden.  They will begin to watch the transformation of butterflies and learn about them this  quarter as well - new life.

Grace celebrated with an Easter party at her school and an Easter egg hunt.  She had a blast.

Trains and Friends

So last week to end the study on trains Olivia's class took a field trip to the National Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC.  Grace I and I went along as well.  This is one of the advantages to a school that does 3 days in school and 2 days home study. This was how we spent our home study - sharing this together and with friends.

Here is Olivia with two of her best friends from class, Ava and Lindsay. You will love this - I said are you all making a train since there was a line of girls like this. Their response "uhhh no it's a hug party". Oh of course it is ..lol.

and Grace was very found of a little boy, Matthew,  and grabbed his hand  - too funny

Prom?

So a lot has changed since my "prom" days.  Now it appears that how you ask a girl, even your current girlfriend, to the prom is a big deal.  So last week Jonathon and I went over to his girlfriend, Allie's, house and lit up tea light candles in her driveway that looked like this "PROM?".  (I am glad he gets an A for effort because the candles a little bit of wind we had did not cooperate and they would not stay lit, he was a bit frustrated to say the least).

Then Jonathon dressed up and stood behind them with a single red rose.  Can you tell from the photo he hates photos and was agitated the candles were not cooperating.  He is texting her mom here saying send Allie out to get something out of your car, I'm ready!

Allie comes out in her pjs - and surprise!  We got her good, she was clueless he was up to anything.

It was hit!  She loved it

So in a couple months these two will be going to the PROM!

A Lesson in Determination

So the 3rd quarter at Olivia's school has come to a close. They studied a lot about trains this quarter and how they have impacted our communities over the years.   The entire quarter's lessons were built with one word in mind "Determination" and how people who were determined impacted our world and how we can impact our world by being determined. The scripture verse for this quarter Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.  I love how all the lessons are tied to a virtue which is tied to the Word of God which is tied to the knowledge our children learn.  Once again straight from how the Word of God and the premise of 2 Peter 1:5-8, which says we should add to our faith, virtue, and to our virtue we should add knowledge. The desire of our school is to see education and Biblical truth seamlessly woven together for the purpose of developing college-prepared servant leaders for Christ. With this purpose, we believe that character should be at the forefront of education.

So these Kindergartens didn't seem to have any fear, just pure excitement to walk the stage and present "The Little Engine that Could"
